Pittsburgh, “The City of Bridges,” as it is known, might soon be known for more than just blue-collar workers producing steel and building bridges. It is time to address the fashion trends that are quickly making a mark in Pittsburgh. However, where are these trends coming from, and who is creating local apparel to support them? Great questions! To answer these questions, let us begin with what trends have been popular recently and then figure out where these trends can be purchased. Some notable trends that have been popular recently include performance wear that allows the customer to move like an athlete (Shrader, 2024). Besides performance-based clothing, the consumer is also interested in the comfort of the clothing, which allows the consumer always to be comfortable (Shrader, 2024). Before we understand where to buy these trendy items, let us know why these trends exist. Shrader says the trends of comfort clothing became popular before COVID but became even more popular when people were forced to stay home more often due to the pandemic (Shrader, 2024). Shrader also states that these trends trickle down from professional sports athletes, where they popularize them. Being comfy at home while watching professional athletes popularize comfy clothing led to a trendy yet cozy outfit. 

So, where in the world do these trends exist in Pittsburgh? Now, we are getting to the good stuff. As a Pittsburgh native, I believe that this stamp of authentic Pittsburgh wear mixed with today’s trends does two things: It gives the Pittsburgh audience a taste of trending products or styles while paying homage to the city and providing a sense of pride in every purchase. No wonder Fouronetwo has been a topic of discussion over the last few years. They have a unique way of connecting with the audience through up-to-date trends in apparel while staying true to the city’s culture, colors, and vibe.
